Little Happy Head

After spying my last 'work in progress' post, my friend Hollie requested a little head for her birthday present. This is what I made her.
I think it's safe to say she was very pleased :P

New Project

I've been working on another personal project for a little while now. The idea happened around the week of the Illuminate festival, so I've only just been able to focus some time to it.

I'm being so cryptic!

But I don't want to give away the surprise!
I will say that it was inspired by a book I bought in January called "Steampunk Softies" :P

Oh, ok. Here's part of the design sketch!

And here is a little bit of what I have made so far.

Awwwwww! He's just a cute little head!!
I'll try to update more with progress on this project.
:D

2012 Exhibition

My poster design for our exhibition.

A bunch of my friends from the graphics and sculpture courses got together and put on an exhibition with the theme of 2012 in the centre of Bath. It was good fun, especially on opening night (with wine and nibbles) and invigilating (watching films) during the week with Anne.

I exhibited my goggles! I had some good reactions and comments about them :D Mostly to do with how they are entirely hand made :P I even had some nice comments at my mid-year review about my crafting skills!!! (Yes, this is truly amazing stuff.)

Hmm, I guess my next exhibition will be the big third year show in London!
:D

Illuminate Bath Festival

I'm in this video!! Oh. god.

Anyway, this is an overview of the Illuminate Festival in the centre of Bath for 4 nights (25-28 Jan). I had two projects featuring in the festival, the "Curtain of Rain" project and the "Growing" animation (I'm currently editing together some footage from these which I will post... eventually!).
It was exciting to be part of the festival. There were an awful lot of technical hiccups and organisational nightmares... but I feel the free pasties made up for these.
:D

An Update!

So, my new year's resolution was to blog more... This has not gone to plan!
But I have had a really good start to 2012 :)
Most of January was a blur, what with the dissertation hand-in, and the crazy rush to get everything ready for the Illuminate Bath Festival. On top of that was an exhibition of work at Walcot Chapel in Bath, and of course, our mid-year review!

Haha, it sounds mad! Anyway, all the hard work paid off, and all of the events were fantastic.
I can't complain (too much!)

Now I have returned revitalised by an amazing skiing holiday. I am ready to take on the rest of this third and final year!
:D

ps. More details of these events to follow!

Canimation Update!

I'm in the top six for the Canimation competition!! I'm going to the Award Ceremony in London!!! :O I am ecstatic! I can't wait to see my animation on the big screen, meet so many interesting people, and experience this "glamorous" event! :D:D:D

Steampunk Goggles

Here are my goggles! My personal summer project.

I also made this cute bag to keep them in.

And here they are on my head :P

I wanted to make my very own epic steampunk style goggles. I am loving steampunk so much at the moment!
They are made from assorted types of leather and suede, some little brass buckles, and two large brass rings. And many hours of hard work and sore fingers - they were sown together completely by hand (because I don't have a sewing machine).
I am really proud of them :D
